Lawn Care Tips

With summer now it 'in full swing, good weather SA to talk about lawn care. Lawns need a lot keep that green health as we all (well most of us). It sometimes seems like a complex art than anything else. We've all seen those immaculate lawns on TV or in movies. How do we get the weeds from lawns so free and orderly? The years of work are the first answer that comes to mind, lawns are not a draft night or the weekend. I've had friends wonder if it would be better to just start all over, something that weeds. Note that the weed seeds will grow the same way as grass seeds, or grass. We are so back to work. Was so I start? I like answering
questions with a question (don 't worry I will answer). It 's to get you thinking. So here's the first question: what are lawns? The quick answer would be grass. Well that is ok, but far from the correct answer. Well not to get too scientific, the foundations of a lawn is: the structure of the root, straw, and the plates. All these things need to be careful to maintain a healthy lawn. The roots. The roots are the most important parts of the lawn, without it you would have a dirt-friendly lawn. How do you care correctly for the root system of your lawn? Proper watering, feeding, and trimming. Lawns should be watered only 2 to 3 times a week. You must water for 30 - 60 minutes per irrigation, depending on soil type and sprinkler heads. Watering too often will grow roots at a shallow depth. This can make the grass suddenly become yellow if the heat beats too fast. Watering for longer periods less often helps the water to soak in deeply and then the roots will follow. Deeper the root system the better. Next we need to feed it. A good diet is 3 to 5 times per year. Once in early spring (or as soon as the snow melts), this must just be a balanced fertilizer. A good balance is 10 to 10 - 10, 14 to 14 - 14, or 16 to 16 - 16. If you don 't know what these numbers mean, ask your local nursery (should know what to get you). I prefer the types of granule on aerosols, are easier to separate and last longer. Fertilize your lawn after a weed and fertilizer combination in the late spring (middle of March or early April). Be careful to follow all directions to your weed and feed, many scorch or burn your lawn if applied incorrectly. June brings us to the summer feeding, it should be higher in nitrogen, keeping the grass green during the heat. This needs to be watered in as soon as you get it, it could also scorch your lawn in the heat. In the fall we have another weed and feed should be applied equally to the weed and feed before. This is usually around early - late August September. The past is difficult to use, it depends on when it snows. This use is usually called the Winterized, you put it on just before winter. Feed lawn all winter, this way you can get off to a good start in the spring. Now as to the adjustment. How long should your lawn be? That depends on the season. In the spring, summer, and keep it low, you want nice medium length, 2 inches in the shortest, 3 or 4 inches would be preferable. With an average length grass you will have a balance between looking nice and healthy. Shorter the grass unless it happens in the root development and more development happens in the sheet. This is a point of discussion between my friend and me, he likes it shorter, because it looks nice, I like it longer so I don 't have to water much. It is up to you in the end, this is just a collection of aid (if you want them). The straw. I have often heard people say that the straw is bad for the lawn, while it 's true that too much is bad for your lawn, no one is just as bad. Dispel that myth so common that the straw is bad and you should not have any. The straw that makes it good for your lawn is to keep in moisture. Taking the brunt of summer heat, so only a little dirt gets down. Too much thatch can have the opposite effect, he can keep the water from reaching the grass. You can also help keep insects and disease to overwhelm your lawn. A good straw is a quarter inch. De-thatch your yard regularly to keep it under control. If you now have no straw don 't concern The next time you are mowing your lawn don 't bag, leave the grass clippings on the lawn to help increase a layer of straw. Do this until the straw is in the desired length. It is also a good idea to mow without a bag, once in the spring and fall again to help maintain the proper length of straw (only if you don 't have it much). The plates. The sheets of nice green grass, that is what every fan wants to grass. We know water, feed, adjust and keep them healthy total. But what do we do if the grass continues to go brown, yellow, red or someone?? No other odd colors. The best way to get him diagnosed lawn problems is to take a square of 6 x 6 inches from the edge of the problem areas. Take it in your local nursery (call first, some places don 't want you to bring anything inside). You need to get all the roots on up. It is also very important that you get it from the edge of the problem areas, this is were the problems and become separated. A good guideline is to achieve good environmental turf grass and half dead. And don 't concern if you put it back correctly and watered well he should be fine. Mower maintenance is important for the health of a lawn. A dull mower blade will tear the grass instead of cutting it. So keep your mower maintained. So to recap. The water 2-3 time a week for 30-60 minutes (in the morning just before dawn works best). Fertilize 3-5 times per year. Set to an average length to promote root development. Take a quarter inch of straw to help retain moisture. Talk to you the local expert nursery when you need help. And keep your lawn care equipment (both for security and lawn 's health). And enjoy!
